An alleged suspect in a string of armed robberies on the Eastern Shore and Delaware, which included the November robberies of the Domino’s and Royal Farm Stores here in Chestertown, was picked up by Dover City Police on Dec.19.
Vontaye Lamont Gilbert, 33, of Chestertown was charged by Dover Police for robberies there and is being held in Smyrna, Del. at the James T. Vaughn Detention Center.
Soon after the arrest, Chestertown Police Chief Adrian Baker filed multiple charges against Gilbert for the robberies here. Chief Baker gave accolades to Centreville Police, Delaware Police agencies, Easton Police, Kent County Sheriff’s Department, Maryland State Police, and the Queen Anne Sheriffs Department for the high level of inter-agency cooperation.
“This is a significant step to concluding the recent Chestertown armed robberies,” Chief Baker said. ”After many hours of diligent work, a serious criminal has been brought to justice.”
