Updated–The Domino’s Pizza in Centreville was robbed Monday night at around 10:30 p.m. — the fourth armed robbery in the area in three weeks.
The M-O and description of a suspect were similar to two previous robberies in Chestertown and another holdup at the Back Fifty, formerly Howard’s Tavern, in Kingstown on Oct. 26, said TFC William Abey, the lead investigator for the Maryland State Police.
TFC Abey said the suspect entered the rear of the premises, displayed a gun, and demanded cash. A K-9 unit of the Maryland State Police later tracked the suspect to an “undisclosed area” where the scent stopped, possibly where a get-away car was waiting.
First to arrive at the scene was OFC Robert Hobbs of the Centreville Police Department, followed by units of the Maryland State Police and Queen Anne’s County Sherriff’s Department. An MSP helicopter was called up to search for the suspect — but yielded no results. The K-9 unit of the Chestertown Police was also dispatched to the scene.
Centreville Police Chief Kenneth Rhodes said he’s reminding businesses to keep side and back doors locked during hours of operation. He also said the Centreville Police Department continues to offer escorts year-round for businesses to make their bank drops.
Chestertown Police Chief Adrian Baker confirmed Wednesday that the M-O and descriptions of one of the suspects were similar to the robberies at the Domino’s in Chestertown on Nov. 6 and the Royal Farms Store on Maple Avenue on Nov. 11.
